Hotel Tour - Setting
This great hotel sits proudly in the centre of the charming
and perennially popular little town of Aberdour. Sometimes
known as the ‘Jewel of Fife’, for such a small
village Aberdour has much to offer, there are the two superb
beaches ( one a European Union "Blue Flag Award"
winner), Aberdour castle, built in the 13th Century, the 12th
century village church and much more. Its position presents
a quite spectacular array of sightseeing and touring opportunities
all only a short drive away.
Aberdour, though quiet and secluded, is only a short distance
from many of Scotland’s most popular visitor attractions.
Thanks to Aberdour’s own main line railway station Edinburgh
city centre is only 40 minutes away by train, passing over
the world famous Forth Rail Bridge on the way. Taking the
line in the other direction is Dundee, where "Scott of
the Antarctic’s' ship, Discovery, is berthed. Aberdour
is also only 10 minutes from the M90 motorway which, going
south, takes you over the Forth Road Bridge to Edinburgh in
under an hour, and the central belt of Scotland in not much
more. Going north on the M90 takes you to the Ochil Hills
and Perth – and onwards to the perennial visitor centre
of Pitlochry and its theatre, and the awe-inspiring desolation
of the Grampian mountains.
Travelling eastwards up the coast and the famous Fife Coastal
Village Trail will bring you to St. Andrews, the great ‘home
of golf’.
